The Department of Marketing, Faculty of Business Administration, AIUB, organized a Study Visit to Akij Bakers Ltd. (ABL), A Concern of Akij Insaf Group, located at Shilmun, Tongi, Gazipur, on August 22, 2026. As part of the regular student development program under the industry-academia collaboration, BBA Marketing specialization students from the courses of ‘Integrated Marketing Communication’ and ‘Product Innovation and Management’ went on to visit the factory to get practical insights about the Factory Operations, Production Processes, Quality Control, and Storage & Shipment Procedures of ABL Products in the local market.
Upon arrival at the factory premises, the AIUB visiting team received a warm welcome and an informative briefing from Mr. Fahim Hasan, Assistant Manager (Event), Event & Activation Department, Akij Bakers Ltd. He provided an overview of the company’s factory operations, establishments, product portfolio, brand marketing activities, supply chain management, and health and safety protocols. Mr. Fahim also introduced the students to ABL’s diverse range of bakery and snack products, including Bread, Buns, Cakes, Biscuits, Cookies, and Wafers. He highlighted some of the company’s prominent brands available in the local market, including Bakeman’s Biscuits; Fantastic- its range of biscuits, cakes, chips, and chanachur; Yum Cake; Fast Bread and Bun; and Hi5 Wafer and Chocolate. The briefing gave the students a valuable understanding of ABL’s product portfolio and the strategic efforts involved in building and managing its brands in the competitive local market.
Following the formal briefing, the students were taken on a guided tour of the factory, where they observed the mixing, production, packaging, and distribution processes across various product lines. They also had the opportunity to explore ABL’s storage, warehousing, and logistics facilities, gaining practical insights into the operational processes involved in delivering products to the local market. An informative and engaging Quiz Session was also organized for the visiting students, featuring questions related to ABL’s products, brands, and factory operations. The winners were awarded a selection of ABL products as tokens of appreciation. After the factory visit, the students participated in a range of fun and interactive activities, creating an enjoyable and engaging conclusion to the study visit.
During the closing session, Mr. Soumik Ahmed, Assistant Manager, Research & Development, Akij Bakers Ltd., shared valuable insights with the visiting team on emerging market trends, product development processes, quality control practices, and overall factory operations. His discussion further enriched the students’ understanding of how market insights and innovation contribute to successful product development and business operations. The visit concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. Md. Mosharaf Hossain, General Manager (Factory) and Factory Head, Akij Bakers Ltd., who expressed his appreciation to AIUB for organizing the study visit and to the visiting team for their participation and interest in learning about ABL’s operations.
